I hope you are doing well and were able to enjoy the sunshine even under lockdown.
It’s been really great catching up with many of you and hearing how you are all doing. It sounds like you are all doing a great job so you can get a counter from me.
As ever, maths can be accessed via the White Rose website:
Here’s the link:
I’ve also added 12 weeks of Fluent in 5 maths activities as well. The aim of the game with these is to spend five minutes on each day’s challenge.
What’s great about them is that they keep the children fresh on the key areas of maths for their age group.
Second they help develop the children’s skills in identifying which ones require written or mental strategies to answer. This thought process really helps develop the maths brain.
They should then take on the mental questions first which should be rapid. This gives time for them to spend on the written questions. Ideally they should have 1 minute at the end to check their work.
I’ve been doing these for about 4 years and they have a significant positive impact which is evidenced in Y6 SATS results so they are well worth doing if you get the time.
Literacy plans will appear on the Jackdaws homeschooling literacy folder.
For those who have not seen it yet, BBC Home learning has some interesting, some would say surprising teachers. Here’s a link
Finally thanks to the parents who pointed out that Norfolk Library is offering a free electronic service for books which is both great for the kids and of course for yourselves too.
As ever, if there is anything I can help with, just drop the office an email andI will get back to you.
